Jack Herberholz

With the founding of Compete Communications, Jack Herberholz added a new descriptor to his business background: entrepreneur.  The launch of this company, built on his 13 years of marketing and advertising management experience, defines him as a leader and innovator while excelling in providing clients with thoughtful, strategic thinking.  He has built incredible teams throughout his career and has always provided the best client service for each brand he has worked on.

Now, Herberholz has developed a new business model for providing small and large companies, in addition to non-profits, a way to receive big-agency marketing and communications thinking in our budget-conscious world.

Prior to starting Compete Communications, Herberholz had a varied background leading change in numerous positions at major companies.  He’s managed nationwide and worldwide initiatives for a varied group of clients that included such household names as Ford, Pontiac, and Chevrolet.

Most recently, Herberholz served as the President of a local marketing company, managing a team of marketing professionals that delivered successful programs for a diverse client base that included many non-automotive companies. Committed to customer service and client satisfaction, Jack’s work is deeply rooted in providing custom-solutions for his clients that meet challenging goals.

For over five years, Herberholz served as a Vice President for JWT - Team Detroit (formerly J. Walter Thompson), responsible for managing the prestigious Ford International account.  His work led to substantial increases in agency fees as Ford continually asked JWT to increase their responsibilities.  Agency evaluation scores skyrocketed under his leadership. His work on worldwide consumer promotions was credited with driving traffic to Ford dealerships and an enhanced brand experience in five regions throughout the world.

“Working for JWT-Team Detroit was one of the best experiences I have had in my professional career.  Working with great clients from Ford and my internal team really allowed me to grow as a professional and I am truly grateful for those who believed and still believe in me as a trusted partner”.

Prior to assuming a Vice President position at JWT, Herberholz worked on Ford Dealer advertising, Ford Racing and held other positions at agency powerhouses such as D’Arcy and Campbell Ewald.

Born and raised in Michigan, Jack received a BA from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  He currently resides in Troy with his wife Cyndi, their two daughters, Maggie and Anna along with their dog, Mya.  In addition to family time, he enjoys golfing, traveling, volunteering at his children's school and getting involved with causes that aim to strengthen communities and people’s lives.  Most recently, Jack was elected to the 2010 Board of Directors for the non-profit Scleroderma Foundation, Michigan Chapter.
